Baur family papers 1926-2001

Family correspondence and documentation represents about half of this collection of the Baur family papers. Most of the letters were written during the World War II years. The other half of the collection represents the community activities and interests of Edward Jackson Baur and his wife, Lillian Jacoby Baur. Mr. Baur, a University of Kansas Sociology Professor, was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union and Common Cause and addressed many concerns local to Lawrence, Kansas. Mrs. Baur served as a member of the League of Women Voters of Douglas County (KS), the NAACP, and various local clubs, as well as teaching in local schools. These papers include research and reports, minutes, notices, and newspaper clippings, etc., related to the various organizations.
